BREAKS BARRIERS
Concord Federal Credit Union serves the financial needs of its community.

We transform lives. Join the journey.
Black History Month 2026
The 2026 Black History Month national theme, designated by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), is “A Century of Black History Commemorations”. This theme celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first Negro History Week, founded in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson.
Significance: It reflects on 100 years of efforts to study, honor, and preserve the history, culture, and contributions of people of African descent.
Context: The theme highlights the evolution and impact of Black History Month over the past century.
Focus: It emphasizes the importance of telling an accurate, inclusive history, particularly in response to efforts to remove Black history from public discourse.
Note: In Canada, the 2026 theme is “Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries“.
a legacy of over 70 years!
PROVIDING Brooklyn FINANCIAL SERVICES & EDUCATION SINCE 1951
African Americans were denied loans by mainstream banks as they sought home mortgages and the resources to start their lives anew. To answer this discriminatory practice, The Concord Baptist Church of Christ founded Concord Federal Credit Union in 1951. It was chartered with eight members from the Church.
In 2021 we celebrated 70 years of service!
